Volunteering Terms and Conditions

Data Protection Act

Your personal details will be treated as confidential and kept for no longer than necessary. If you are accepted as a volunteer, the information you have provided on this volunteer registration and monitoring information form will become part of your volunteer records which will be used to plan and record your practical involvement as a volunteer.

Please note that as a volunteer you will have access to all information, records, finances, and business models of TEARS Foundation. All information you have access to must always be kept private and confidential. By agreeing to this form, you acknowledge that no information about any victims or any of the ways in which the TEARS Foundation runs will be allowed to be repeated thus non-disclosure is always expected even once volunteering at TEARS is terminated.

Please note further that all calls are recorded to and from the TEARS Foundation and that all emails from the TEARS Foundation email addresses are monitored. I am aware that the information I have provided will be treated confidentially and consent to it being used and stored in the capacity stated and I confirm acknowledgement of non-disclosure that is always binding.

Dress Code

Dress code is corporate from Monday to Friday. Colour scheme is black/white/grey/navy/teal. No strappy tops, sundresses, denims, and sneakers. Saturdays are casual where sundresses, denims and sneakers are allowed.

 

Intervention Specialist Volunteers

  • All volunteering positions are unpaid.
  • The roles are not remote and require volunteers to work on-site during their committed hours.
  • Volunteers must commit to being in the office for at least six hours a day.
  • Applicants must reside close enough to Sandton to reliably commute to the office.
  • Volunteers must be aged 18 or older and appropriately qualified to handle sensitive cases involving individuals affected by rape and abuse.
  • Only qualified individuals will be considered for these positions, as we cannot entrust sensitive interactions to untrained or unqualified individuals.

Non-Intervention Specialist Volunteers

  • We also welcome individuals with time and skills to help further our mission in non-specialist capacities.

Administrators

General Helpers (e.g., assisting with packing comfort bags)

  • The terms and conditions for these roles will vary depending on the specific contributions volunteers can make.

Unsuccessful Applicants
